Kissing under the mistletoe over the holidays comes from an ancient Scandinavian story about Frigga, the goddess of love, and a spell she cast over the aphrodisiacal plant. Hooking up with someone at a club on New Year's Eve probably comes from the same Nordic myth. Ring in 2007 at one of the city's hotspots and you'll likely enter in legend yourself. Skilled DJs spin house, techno, R&B, drum and bass and tight oldie beats to a dance floor that usually gets packed and sweaty with the young and beautiful well before midnight and goes on until the wee hours. The bar stocks your favorite champagne for a toast (like Veuve Cliquot) and V.I.P. rooms usually do premium bottle service and gourmet hors d'oeuvres. Expect hot bodies, high covers and a strict dress code (sneakers and jerseys are most often no-no's). If you miss the countdown due to locked lips, at least you've got a tale to tell.
